Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE)

Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE)

You know your child best.

If you believe the school’s evaluation was incomplete, inaccurate, or doesn’t fully reflect your child’s learning needs, you have the right to request an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE)—at the school district’s expense.

What Is an IEE?

An IEE is a comprehensive evaluation conducted by a qualified professional outside the school system. It serves as a second opinion when parents or guardians disagree with the school’s assessment. The findings of an IEE can play a key role in developing or updating your child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP), ensuring it reflects their true strengths and support needs.
